Many incoming freshmen have difficulty balancing increased academic demands with the newfound freedom of being away from home for the first time. After all, who wants to study when you could hang out with new friends? It may help to set a detailed schedule outlining time set aside to study and to socialize. You may want to schedule your study times first thing in the morning, during the day or right after your classes; this way, you have the nights reserved for doing fun activities with friends but your grades won’t suffer for lack of study time. You can always modify your schedule to meet your social needs while still allowing for homework and study sessions.
